Cité Mémoire

Cité Mémoire, a work by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon, in collaboration with Michel Marc Bouchard, has been officially unveiled in May 2016. Part of Montreal’s 375th anniversary celebrations, this large-scale project is deployed throughout the Old Port. Twenty-five tableaux invite visitors to discover the city’s history through fascinating stories told by everyday and famous Montrealers, who can testify to the richness of that past. These images are projected on existing walls, blind walls, on trees and even on sidewalks. A story about the city told on its very landscape!

Design & production

Collaborators Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon have worked with Normal on many occasions, most notably on Toruk (Cirque du Soleil), Icare (TMN), Continuum (Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium) and La belle et la bête (TMN). The Normal team was entrusted with post-production of the video, but since we were part of the project from the very beginning, we were also able to help Lemieux and Pilon build their concept by providing expertise advice on special effects, artistic direction and technical direction.
