Kurios VIP Experience

Matching the energy of a 19th century Golden Age

Set in the 1800s, Kurios delves into the story of the Seeker, the inventor of a machine that defies time, space and dimension. Using a cast of curious and outlandish characters, Kurios stands as a unique tribute to the power of human imagination and great scientific inventions.

By shaping the visuals of the VIP tent, we played a crucial role in inviting visitors into this charming world by setting the stage for the acrobatics to come. The space was designed to host guests before and after the show and during the intermission. It’s a soft entrance into the golden age of the steam engine.

We set about creating an environment that propelled visitors into a hot-air balloon, an invention from the Mongolfier brothers in 1782 and later canonized in Jules Verne’s “Five Weeks in a Balloon” in 1863. By drawing inspiration from this era, we were able to produce steampunk imagery that was appreciated by clients and elevated the overall guest experience.

Integrating a corporate collaborator’s brand identity

A key request for this assignment was to intelligently integrate Mastercard’s logo to the content as they are the premium collaborator for Cirque du Soleil shows in Canada. We went above and beyond to integrate their logo in a creative way using the same art style as the rest of the content.

These corporate partners offer a fresh challenge to our team as their identity can on paper contradict our creative vision. However using our team’s creativity, we were able to defy expectations and create a coherent world for the tent.

Adapting to User flow

Designing content for a dynamic environment like the tent required careful consideration of the audience’s movement and engagement throughout the show. As stated previously, the space is occupied across three critical moments: before the show, during the intermission, and after the final act. Each phase demanded a tailored approach to ensure the experience remained cohesive and engaging.

This approach required the creation of looping 360° environments that were visually rich but subtle enough to avoid overwhelming the senses. The feeling of gentle buoyancy was key, crafting an ambiance that felt immersive and organic. Every element—from the visuals to the media server’s calibration—was fine-tuned to harmonize the content with the physical space, avoiding any “washed-out” effects while preserving the richness of the projections.

By respecting the rhythm of the show and its audience flow, the tent became more than just a venue—it transformed into an evolving narrative space, an extension of the performance itself.
