Based on the Desjardins couple’s private correspondence, the 8-minute video retraces events surrounding the foundation of the Desjardins’s Caisse Populaire movement. It shines a light on the significant role Alphonse Desjardins’s wife, Dorimène, played in carrying her husband’s vision of economy and savings. The scene also highlights personal milestones including their wedding, their relocation to Lévis and the first steps of their child, to get the audience acquainted with Alphonse and Dorimène.
With help from playwriter Michel Marc Bouchard, director Michel Lemieux unveiled the history of Caisse Desjardins using the first-hand account penned by its founders.
Normal Studio assisted Michel Lemieux in producing an audio-visual tableau. Thanks to their graphic and motion design work, our team enriched the notion of correspondence by using their prose as a narrative device threading through each scene.
After inaugurating 3 interior projections at hotel Fairmount Queen Elizabeth in 2017, this new projection inside of Complexe Desjardins adds value to the Cité-Mémoire trail. To this day, the entire experience encompasses 27 multimedia displays sprawled throughout Old-Montréal and downtown.
